A little update of things going on around with us and the cafe.
Personally
The last couple weeks were difficult around here. As some of you know, Shaun's dad was in the hospital a couple weeks ago. He's doing much better now. Then this past week, we had to put our cat, Lee-Loo, down. She had a stroke and the doctor didn't think she'd recover. Then Friday was the 1 year anniversary of my dad passing away.
It's been rough, but we're so grateful for our friends and family, and all of you, who have been so loving, kind, and understanding. Thank you.
Last Week @ Critical Grind
Last Wednesday we had our first event at Flight Tasting Room & Bottle Shoppe in Yorkville. Our Game Master, Josh, did an excellent job running things and we had a great turnout. It seemed like everyone had fun and we can't wait to be there again. Our next event at Flight will be on Wednesday, January 11th from 6pm-9pm. Don't miss it.
Thursday we had a full group for D&D. We're talking to some of our other DMs to try to get another game going on Thursday nights. If anyone is interested in DMing that game, feel free to reach out to me or Shaun. dana@criticalgrind.com or shaun@criticalgrind.com
Sunday was our Gaming with Santa event. I had plans to have a photographer here but with everything that was going on, I dropped the ball there. It still seemed like everyone was having a great time. We saw some new and familiar faces. Kids and adults alike had fun decorating ornaments and playing games. and taking pictures with Santa.
This Week @ Critical Grind
This week is a weird week with Christmas coming up. We'll be open our normal hours until Friday. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
Magic the Gathering is still happening tonight. Open board gaming tomorrow. D&D Thursday. and Friday's game night theme is DICE GAMES.

If you haven't already signed up for our rental library, you should do that soon! These are the details of our monthly subscription packages but should you wish to sign up annually, you'll get 2 months free. This was you can borrow any game in our library to take home or to those boring parties you keep getting dragged to.
We've learned how to open a tab at the cafe, so if someone is going to be playing for a while and wants to order multiple things, they can start a running total instead of being charged multiple times.
If you saw my tiktok/reel from a few weeks ago, you'll know that I'm the weird neighbor in our little strip-mall that talks to the crows and tries to feed them.
I saw this art piece the next day by one of my favorite artists, Bianca Roman-Stumpff.
My mother-in-law just bought it for me for Christmas and I am so excited!
