I sent out our Annual Grind Newsletter last week. It's the annual recap of the cafe goals and accomplishments, as well as setting new goals for the next year. Give it a look if you're interested.


HIGHLIGHTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS:

I had the honor of planning the 2025 Holiday/2026 Kick-Off Party for Above and Beyond Networkers this last weekend. It was an evening of celebrating small businesses and enjoying our community. The event was at The Parsonage in downtown Plainfield, it was catered by Happy Belly, desserts by The Pound Cake Lady & Dessert First, bartended by Sip Happens, and DJ'd by our very own Jay from Liquid Kourage Entertainment.

This photo is many of the local business owners in the Above and Beyond Networkers group. This group has been inspiring me and the way I do business since I joined over a year and a half ago. Collaboration over Competition. Document the Journey. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, not bring you down.

Special Events

Save the date for Saturday, January 31st from 11am - 3pm We're hosting a Local Author Book Fair. 13 local authors will be here with their books. Fantasy, Children's, Religious Inspirational, Historical Fiction, Poetry, and Romance authors will all be present. Come out and support these local authors.

RPG Event Updates!


--> KIDS RPG NIGHT

How it normally works: I email the parents directly, hopefully on the Monday before Kid's RPG Night with the link for sign-ups and session descriptions. So if you are a Kid's RPG Night parent, please fill out this form. (if you haven't already)


Please remember Kid's RPG Night takes place the 2nd and 4th Fridays, GMs permitting.


We NEED adults to GM for Kid's RPG Night so if you are interested, please email dana@criticalgrind.com or reach out to @The Toast Master in the Discord.

Join our Discord and find your next gaming group.

We play RPGs every Tuesday and Thursday, but people will plan meet-ups outside those times as well. Join our Discord and see what games are being played.


Tip: When you join, go to Rules to get verified. Then, VERY IMPORTANTLY: go to Roles-and-Info to select your interests. This is what will unlock the channels.

Monthly Mini Painting Contest

Whether you're participating in our contests or just looking for a space to hang out and paint, stop by any Tuesday for our Mini-Painting drop-in between 3pm & 8pm. $5 for all you can paint, access to our brushes, and paints, and a free figure to practice on. Or pick up additional figures for only $5 each.

Pick up this month's mini for the painting contest. $15 for the Paint Pass & Mini. This gets you access to our Mini Painting Drop-In on Tuesdays from 3pm - 8pm. Drop off your completed mini by January 25th.
